I appreciate you taking the time to comment on this. I have been taking my effexor over the last few weeks and I'm beginning to believe it's helpful. I will take into consideration about what you mentioned in regards to coming off these meds. Other people have also told me to be careful when coming off effexor. I appreciate your comment. Many thanks. John

Hi there.

I have been taking Effexor for about a year now and was also on it about 6 years ago. When I am taking the medication every day, I do not notice any side effects. I have had some night sweats but, I am not sure if it is from the medication or not. However, I ran out of effexor at one point and was not able to get to the pharmasist for about 5 days (out of town). It was the most horrible thing I have ever experienced. As soon as I got home, I went to the doctor for a re-fill of my prescription and to discuss my new symptoms, I had no idea what was causing all of these horrible feelings, I thought I was dying. As soon as I started to explain to her what was going on, she told me that it was from being off the effexor cold turkey. Seratonin Withdrawl.

If you do/did decide to take the medication, make sure you do not miss a dose and if you decide to go off of it do it under a doctors care for sure. Otherwise, I have had no bad experiences with it. It does what it is supposed to do.
